The
Lombok offers plenty of deserted and often isolated beaches, friendly and interesting people, delicious food and fantastic nature. This year, after staying more than 1 week,
Lombok and Gili Islands become my personal favorite-at least so far.
How to Get to Lombok
To get to Lombok there are only two options, planes and boats. The flight operated from various cities in Indonesia to Lombok. But the international airport has welcomed flights from overseas, for example from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
To find the best and cheapest flights for your trip to Lombok, see
Traveloka.com . There you can compare prices, departure times, flight duration and different airlines.
You can take a boat to Lombok from e.g. Bali, Gili Islands or Sumbawa. There is a difference between speed boat and local boat, because not only the price but the duration of the trip can vary significantly.
Accommodation in Lombok-Tips Hotel
Lombok is a relatively large island and offers virtually unlimited possibilities to stay. Whether in South Kuta, in the capital of Mataram or in the centre of Senggigi tourist on the west coast-in Lombok you will find many accommodation in all price ranges.
We personally recommend staying in Senggigi and surrounding areas. A good hotel is Qunci Villas, which is located on a quiet secluded beach. The center of Senggigi is only a short taxi ride or scooter. But also near Qunci Villas you will find several restaurants and shops.
1. Gili Islands
3 Paradise Island – a tiny little look compared to Lombok – is just 20 minutes away by boat: Gili Trawangan, the main island, Gili Meno and Gili Air.
Gili is popular for scuba diving and snorkeling, but also for relaxing, swimming and partying. Backpacker and tourists visit especially Gili Trawangan often. Here you can experience the lively Reggae-ganja-Magic-Mushroom-Vibe. Gili Islands is a must!

You can also discover the colorful underwater world on Gili by snorkelling on the day of travel from Lombok. With a little luck, you can even see the turtle.
2. Mount Rinjani
The second highest volcano in Indonesia is definitely one of the highlights of Lombok! You can order a multi-day, guided tour to the crater lake and even upwards in all tourist places. Pictures speak for themselves...

3. Senggigi
Most tourists arrive in Senggigi because many hotels are here. It's also great to go out at night or eat. One of the most popular surf spots for locals and tourists is Senggigi beach.
On this beach the vendors and locals do not insist at all but you can have a nice little talk if you like (especially about football since Indonesia's love football).

4. From Senggigi to Gili Island
To explore this road next to the beach is best to use a scooter, which you can rent for example in Senggigi. One of the highlights is the viewpoint on Malimbu Hill 1 and 2. It offers superb views of the Malimbu and Nipah beaches and 3 Gili islands. See other view points and beaches that you can find in this way too because they are worth seeing too.
If you leave Lombok by public boat to the Gili Islands and will take a taxi from the airport or from the sheet (where the public ferry from Bali arrives), you will probably use the same road (or you tell the route of the taxi driver of your choice) because this road go directly to the ward, where the boat will depart.

5. Pusuk Monkey Forest
Taking a winding road through a stunning mountain landscape is a second choice to get to the ward. This is you find the so-called Monkey Forest, named after a lot of wild monkeys in the woods and near the road. Feed your little hungry and annoying Bastards in the viewpoint if you like.
But beware and look for your bags, backpacks and such. You can go there with scooters too, but always "heart hearted", as the Indonesian said.

If you don't want to explore Lombok by scooter, you can also visit Malimbu Hill View and Monkey Forest at a day tour.
6. Kuta Beach After Senggigi
Kuta is probably the second tourist hotspot in Lombok. This destination offers beautiful beaches as well as many accommodation and restaurants.
From here you can explore the beaches of Mawun's dream, Tanjung aan and Selong Belanak because it is very close (see below). Even Kuta beach itself is worth a look.
7.Now I will introduce some of my favorite beach in Lombok. One if they were Mawun.
Depending on the weekday and time of day, this beach with soft white sand and turquoise water is still largely deserted. Sometimes the waves are heavier here. Secluded beach and located in the west of Kuta in an almost closed bay, which you can easily reach with your scooter as well.
